Immigration
2026 Nehemiah Action Update
We shared our Immigration Campaign’s problem statement, an objective declaration of the problem we are aiming to solve. The problem statement isn’t based on what seems like the easiest solution or what officials we hope will act. Rather, our problem statement is rooted in stories from our community. With that in mind, our official immigration problem statement is:
Since August 2025, local law enforcement has arrested more than 1,600 immigrants in Palm Beach County, more than anywhere else in the state of Florida. This widespread enforcement effort has torn families apart and forced honest, hardworking immigrant members of our community to live in fear despite committing no crime. Additionally, this effort has turned our local law enforcement into immigration agents, diverting them away from other duties, eroding public trust, and making victims of crime less likely to report it, which is harmful for our entire community and makes Palm Beach County less safe for everyone.
Now that we have a problem statement, we need to do research to learn more and to identify possible local solution(s). We know that the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office is part of this equation and we need to better understand PBSO’s policies, procedures, and data. At the Nehemiah Action, Sheriff Bradshaw committed to meet with PEACE to discuss PBSO’s role in local immigration enforcement before the end of April.
